Out of Baltimore

Avery was released early from the video EEG monitoring unit. She had enough seizures in 24 hours that they didn't need to keep her over for another night. We were relieved to be able to get out a Baltimore a day early. We finally got packed up and headed out Friday at about 6:30 pm so that we could get part of the drive out of the way. We drove the rest of the way to Indiana today, but we came to Tell City first instead of going straight to Indianapolis since we had the extra time. That way family there would get to see Avery one last time at least before surgery. We should be home to Indianapolis sometime on Monday. That means we will miss all of our IPC family on Sunday, so hopefully those of you reading this can provide an update to the other IPCers who are interested or asking about Avery. We will catch up with everyone next Sunday if not before. The preliminary results of the video EEG are promising. The neurologist who reviewed Avery's EEG said that it looked as though all the seizures were coming from the left side of Avery's brain. That is good because it is a condition of the surgery as I mentioned before. All the Hopkins neuro staff will be meeting for case conference on Tuesday and Avery's case will be presented. After that, everything becomes the official results/opinion. We should hear from her neurologist on Tuesday evening or Wednesday about the results of that conference and then get a definitive surgery date at that point. We are anxious to hear the final word and get moving towards a better life for our Avery. Please continue to pray that the case conference brings agreement that surgery is our next step. We hope and pray that it is God's will to make her better through surgery. We also ask that you keep Noah and his family in your prayers (the child and his parents I mention in an earlier post). Jon and I found out as we were leaving Friday that he had been readmitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit because he has some clots in the blood vessels of his brain. This is one of the potential post-op complications as I understand it. Certainly the extra days away from home and the worry will take a toll on his family. I will keep you posted on this front as I learn from his parents how he is progressing. Thanks for all your support and prayers. Please keep it coming! Love to all! Holly
