All Wired Up
Avery is finally having her brain activity recorded at Hopkins. They did not get her all wired up until about 3 PM today. She was a good girl and saved all her seizures until after they completed the hook-up. Almost as if on cue, she began to have several seizure events within a few minutes of their completion into the next hour and a half or so. She then took a bit of a nap and had a couple more after she woke up. The word from the nurses is that they have some excellent records of activity and that the doctors (whoever is on the floor and around...We have had several come in and evaluated Avery today) have looked at it and were indicating that they already may be able to make some decisions on how to proceed (whatever that means, it came from one of the nurses). We have not heard if all the activity has only been originating from the left. We sure hope that is the case. Jon and I have been watching her like a hawk and analyzing every seizure. She has "performed" for at least one doctor and the doctor did not act alarmed by what she saw or anything...Hopefully that means something. If they get enough additional activity tonight and tomorrow morning/afternoon, we will probably not have to stay another night. That would be a plus. We'll have to wait and see though.
Not much else to report. So far, this EEG has been a better experience than when we have done it at Riley. No alarms go off in the room here, there is no telemetry unit to keep with Avery all the time, we don't have to hit a reset button after the seizure and the nurses are all pretty awesome so far. It has definitely been easier and more relaxing for Jon and I. They don't give her the really cute gauze hat here though! We still got lots of pictures though.
That's it for now. Thanks for keeping Avery (and the rest of us) in your thoughts and prayers. We send our gratitude and our love.
Cheers,
Holly
