Tooth Number 4 and Changing Beds
It's official. Four teeth have in fact all broken the gum surface. Avery's first tooth is now obviously visible when she opens her mouth. Two others are making good progress and part of the fourth has just started to poke out of the gum. I can hardly wait to see the toothy grin that is to come! She has had a few really good alert periods over the last few days. On Monday night, she was so aleart at 9:30 PM; we laid on the bed in her room and played and "talked". She was so happy and responsive and just making sounds. It was wonderful! She was pretty alert during the day yesterday too. Today she had a very good day. From about 9:00 AM to after 7:oo PM, she didn't have hardly any obvious seizure activity. She was so sweet and responsive again. After I got her out of the bath and dried her off, I picked her back up to take her into our bedroom to dress her. She let out a super LOUD sigh/scream. Jon, who was downstairs, heard it and asked what I was doing to our daughter. It was so much louder then normal that for a minute I thought I had hurt her somehow. But I didn't...all I did was pick her up. She just got enough air in her lungs to really make a sound. She continued to make them quite loud while I got her into her PJs. She wasn't unhappy...she just seemed to really recognize her voice for that little while.
We moved Avery's crib to our bedroom tonight. She has simply outgrown the co-sleeper...so it was time to move up to the big bed. As much as I don't want to, I think we are going to turn her downstairs room into a office/play area. Since she can't sleep downstairs in her room (because the rest of us are upstairs), and since its kind of silly for me to permanently move downstairs to her room with her, we figure it would be a better use of the space. It will get the big computer hutch out of the living room, giving a little more space in there (something we need just about everywhere in the house). Having the computer in the back room will also make for a better and more effective work area. Now, if we could just get the washer and dryer upstairs somewhere? It's a dream, but not likely to happen since we have space issues.
The PRAYERS FOR AVERY bracelet fundraiser has been a complete success. Once things got started, the news and interest spead so fast! I'm not sure that I single bracelet will be left over by the end of the week. If there are any left by the time we head out to Baltimore, they will be accumulated and taken to the American Family Insurance office in Tell City. Anyone still wanting a bracelet at that time should contact my aunt Libby there (thanks Libby!). THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has been a part of this! Your donations and response have been so generous. We are humbled by the immensity of the outpouring in Avery's name. If we find in the next day or so that there is more need than we have the capacity left to fill, then we may order an additional quanity to be sent to Libby for pick-up at American Family. LET US KNOW IF YOU HAVE A DESIRE FOR A BRACELET AND CAN NOT FIND ONE AVAILABLE. Please know that we are forever grateful and can not wait until the day we can return to others who are in need all the kindness we have received.
Anyone wishing to contact us while we are away can do so in these ways:
cell phone: (317)409-4500
email to: holly1224@sbcglobal.net
regular mail to: Avery Paauwe Family, c/o The Childrens House, 1915 McElderry Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21205 (You can call 410/614-2560 to ask for our mailbox number if necessary)
We will also have a phone in our room at the house. I will try to remember to post it here once we check in and I know the number.
We hope everyone reading this is well and, again, we thank you for all your love, support, and prayers.
Blessings to all,
Holly
